Volunteer

Dear Applicant:

HUZZAH!! To all potential volunteers, welcome and get ready to enter an extremely interesting, innovative and definitely distinctive realm! Volunteers are the heart, sweat and soul of the Festival joined together by a common passion for the Renaissance period, its history, festivity and customs.

Volunteers must be 16 years or older. This is an excellent way to earn your community service hours for high school!

16th Century, Inc. is now accepting applications for Volunteers for the 2010 Florida Renaissance Festival season, which runs from January 15-23, at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park in Miami including Monday Jan. 17 - Martin Luther King Day plus one school day and February 12 – March 13 including Monday Feb. 21 – President’s Day, plus one school day,  at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach.

While most people will be working a full day shift; 10:00am - 6:30pm, half day shifts are also available; On school day(s), there will be only 1 shift; 8:30am - 3:00pm. We really need your help on the School Days!

Volunteer Positions

Kid's Kingdom - assisting children and parents with period crafts and games.
Joust Safety - crowd control & VIP placement/Encouraging the audience to cheer their Knight.
Jouster's Squire - work with a knight and his horse.
Handicap Parking Aide - assist parking attendants with patrons needing help.
Volunteer Pavilion - assist volunteer coordinator as needed.
Special Event Intern - assist with Weddings, Birthday Parties, and Corporate meetings.
Greeters - enthusiastically greet our patrons as they enter the front gate.
Game/Maze attendants - game assistance, staff maze entrance/crowd control.
Food servers - assist volunteer coordinator distribute lunch.
Stage Hand - help Stage Managers with Props/Sound/Entertainment.
Information Booths - rotating in six different locations throughout the faire.


 

Helpful hints on volunteering: Volunteers are encouraged to learn about the reign of the season's monarchs. Dress and act like you ARE part of the history of the Festival. WE LOVE OUR MONARCHS and always show them respect! The Volunteer Handbook, available online, will help with this. Please plan on making your own costume and headpiece.

Thank you for your interest in a volunteer participation with 16th Century Inc. at the 2011 Florida Renaissance Festival! The Festival will be here in the blink of an eye, so now is the time to begin making your costume and researching 16th Century Renaissance history.
